Lending Assistant

Summary
The Lending Assistant (LA) reports to the Loan Operations Manager and is responsible for assisting lenders with loan portfolio management and preparation for funding of new and renewal loans. The Bank’s goal is for the LA to provide intentional and pro-active assistance to Lenders so that they can be free to focus their attention on Business Development and Borrower relationship building.

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with Lenders and Loan Operations to promote communication and to ensure quality service delivery, as well as with external customers.
  • Develop and maintain workflows for loan processing in the Loan Origination System
  • Coordinate Pre – closing documentation and steps to move transactions along in a timely manner (ordering title commitments, appraisal, credit reports, Patriot Act, Beneficial Ownership documentation, entity documents, etc.)
  • Assist Lenders with creating and maintaining customer documents and files on the bank’s shared files as well as moving post-closing documents to the bank’s core system.
  • Assist Lenders with managing and tracking regulatory requirements.
  • Assist Lenders with file management with bank’s vendors/partners.
  • Monitor and review past due reports and exception reports with lenders and assist in clearing items.
  • Contact customers and outside parties as needed to obtain necessary collateral exception documents.
  • Scan and upload ongoing loan documents to core system to maintain accurate and current credit files.
  • Serve as a point of contact for customers.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with software applications (CSI, Excel, Word)
  • Prepare letters and correspondence as directed by Lenders.
  • Close loans in absence of Lenders
  • Assist Lenders with Directors Loan Review preparation.
  • Assist in improving bank internal controls and compliance safeguards.

Required Education, Experience and Skills
  • High School Diploma required. College work toward a degree is a plus.
  • Basic PC skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel computer software.
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with customers and team members.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Persistence.
  • Strong motivation to finish tasks well, and on time.
  • Pro-actively seek additional assignments and assist other Loan Assistants.
  • Take initiative to contribute to the bank.
