OBJECTIVE:
The objective of the Director of Business Operations (DBO) role is to allow the continued growth and expansion of BSC by allowing a staff member to be consistently focused on managing the business of the club in close coordination with the Director of Coaching (DOC) and in collaboration with the BSC Board of Directors (BOD).

The Director of Coaching and the Director of Business Operations together are entrusted with the fulfillment of the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the Club and will work collaboratively deliver the:

  • Director of Coaching primary responsibility - “on-the-field” experience to promote the continued recruitment, development, and retainment of coaches, players, and families within the Club.
  • Director of Business Operations primary responsibility - “off-the field”/business side support that allows the Club to provide the best experience and environment possible for each player and parent in all programs.
ROLE:
Full-time, employee position with Director Level base compensation with the opportunity to earn additional through incentive compensation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Vision and Long Terms Goals
  • Actively works with the DOC and BOD to provide input and recommendations to the BOD regarding the future path and efforts of the Club. DBO input to annual operations planning and budgeting aligned with strategic objectives of the Club.
Development
  • Responsible to develop and enable a short- and long-term soccer field expansion plan (practice space only and/or practice and game space) with various courses of action and associated tasks and schedules to report monthly to BOD. 
Financial
  • Responsible to develop and maintain a comprehensive and documented fundraising program (including corporate sponsorship, individual/family donors, grants, events, merchandizing, etc.) with annual board approved objectives and goals.
  • Sound financial administration of the Club, including implementation of accounting policies, financial controls and risk management procedures.
  • Responsible for providing input to the Club annual budget, actual results, and comparisons to budget as well as any variance explanations, supported by admin resources and the Club Treasurer.
Operations
  • While the DOC is responsible to provide direct control over day-to-day soccer operations and program development, improvement, and implementation for all programs offered by the Club, the Director of Business Operations will ensure the business operations (marketing, communication, public relations, facility contracting, etc.) are in place to allow the soccer operations to be conducted seamlessly.
  • Volunteers: Responsible to initiate a documented and networked volunteer program to aide in execution of role and club consisting of key professional specialties or advisory to club and role: marketing, communication, fundraising, legal, medical, real estate, construction, technology, etc.     
  • Projects: Responsible to initiate, manage, report, and present status on other projects assigned by board.
Staffing
  • Development of a staffing plan for the business/admin aspects of the club, including recommendations for roles, responsibilities and compensation, within the annual payroll budget.
  • Supervision of club business/admin staff (currently Registrar/Admin, Social Media/Marketing Coordinator).
  • Directly responsible for the job requirements, roles/responsibilities/structure, and annual performance evaluations for business/admin staff.
Community and stakeholder relations; Marketing and promotion
  • Strengthening relationships/communications between the Club and its various constituencies and stakeholders, and marketing the Club to the community.
  • Interface with City of Boerne (and Kendall County government, as needed) and other local organizations and manage public and community relations.
  • Oversee all marketing, communication, and branding strategies.
Development
  • Responsible to develop and enable a short- and long-term soccer field expansion plan (practice space only and/or practice and game space) with various courses of action and associated tasks and schedules to report monthly to BOD. 
The BDO will continue to work closely with the BOD and DOC to adjust role and responsibilities as needed given the continued growth and development of Boerne Soccer Club.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IS:
  • Organized and detailed
  • A great team player that develops positive, respectful, and collaborative working relationships with a diverse and distributed team of BSC staff, coaches, and board members.
  • Communicates and presents status and plans with executive foresight with familiarity and expertise in Word/PowerPoint or google equivalent.
  • Ability to define objectives, identify potential solutions, set-out activities, and rally resources to accomplish goals.
  • Experience in:
    • managing operations of a non-profit,
    • planning and managing fundraising/sponsorship programs and achieving goals,
    • leading communication and marketing, and/or
    • volunteer management
